Interested in Becoming a Governor?

Could you make a positive contribution to your local school?

Being a school governor is a rewarding way of making a voluntary contribution to the lives of local young people. Sutton-on-Trent Primary and Nursery school is looking for a new governor to join our team. Being a governor can be enjoyable, stimulating and rewarding and you do not have to be the parent of a child. .

We would be delighted to hear from anyone who has;

  • An interest in the performance of the school
  • An open and enquiring mind and an ability to look at issues independently
  • The confidence to ask questions and join in discussion
  • A willingness to listen and make informed judgements
  • The ability to work well with others
  • Some time to spare - There will be 3 full governing body meetings, 3 committee meetings and 2 -3 visits to the school during the year

If you are interested in finding out more please contact us by email at:

 governingbody@sutton-on-trent.notts.sch.uk or by contacting the school office on 01636 821286 and we can arrange to talk to you about the role in more detail.
